This Swivvle® bicycle helmet is exceptionally unique due to the innovative reflective technology, called SR-TECH, which is integrated 360 degrees into the helmet. As soon as a light source shines on the helmet, it will reflect very intensely. This makes you visible from a long distance. Thanks to this reflector technology, there’s no hassle with charging lights. The reflection always works. The intensity of the reflection will not fade over time, meaning you will always be maximally visible without worry in the dark, optimizing safety.
The Swivvle® reflective bicycle helmet model Sirius is available in 3 sizes:
-
S: 51 – 54 cm (20.1 – 21.3 inches)
-
M: 55 – 58 cm (21.6 – 22.8 inches)
-
L: 59 – 61 cm (23.2 – 24.0 inches)
Thanks to this size range, the Swivvle® bicycle helmet can be used as an adult helmet, children’s helmet, women’s helmet, or men’s helmet.
About SWIVVLE®
What does Swivvle® stand for?
The mission of Swivvle® is to keep every vulnerable road user safe. Safety and visibility must always be top priorities in traffic. And safety doesn’t have to be boring! Swivvle® creates products with exactly this goal: making you visible and keeping you safe, in a fashionable and innovative way. Swivvle® challenges the status quo in retroreflective technology. We are innovators, developers, makers, and pioneers in this field. We aim to be best in class with high-quality, durable, and trendy products.
Which products are part of the Swivvle® range?
We focus on helmets with extra safety features such as MIPS® and reflection. In addition, there are accessories to make your helmet even more practical. Visit our website for the current range.
Where are Swivvle® products made?
In close cooperation with a Belgian team, all products are carefully designed, developed, tested, and then produced with trusted partners in China. These partners fully comply with regulations, work precisely and responsibly, with respect for workers, the product, and the climate.
What makes the Swivvle® helmet unique? The Swivvle® helmet has a unique design, created by product designers with comfort, safety, and style in mind, together with engineers who managed to integrate reflective technology into the material of the helmet itself. No coating, no sticker. The reflective technology is built into the entire material of the helmet, 360 degrees. A truly unique design and innovation combined in one helmet that achieves the highest level of safety.
How long does the Swivvle® helmet reflect in the dark?
The reflection of the helmet never stops and never fades! The reflective effect is embedded in the helmet, which means that whenever a light source shines on it in the dark, it reflects the light (retroreflection). So don’t worry, you are covered every dark hour, every day of the year!
What is reflection?
Reflection means bouncing light back. In reflective materials, such as strips on clothing or helmets, the light from for example car headlights is sent straight back to the source. This is called retroreflection and makes you much more visible at night or in bad weather.
What is the difference between fluorescent and reflective?
Fluorescent = visible during the day 🌞Reflective = visible at night 🌙
Fluorescent
(fluo)Colors like yellow, orange, or green are extremely bright in daylight. They absorb invisible UV light and emit it as bright visible light, which makes them look so intense. Works: during the day and in bright surroundings. Does not work: at night without a light source. Example: a fluorescent vest is very bright during the day but looks dull at night.
Reflective
Reflective materials bounce light back to the source (e.g., car headlights). This makes the material shine in the dark. Works: at night with a light source (headlights, street lamps). Does not work: during the day without direct light. Example: reflective strips light up in car headlights but are hardly visible in daylight.
Why does Swivvle® choose integrated reflection?
Our helmets look stylish and subtle during the day, but highly visible at night thanks to invisible built-in reflection. No big strips or patches that ruin your look – just the perfect combination of style by day and safety at night.
Does the Swivvle® helmet glow in the dark?
No, the Swivvle® helmet is not phosphorescent or glow-in-the-dark! Reflective and glow-in-the-dark are very different. Glow-in-the-dark products give off light by themselves and need an energy source. It can be a battery or a chemical reaction (like glowsticks you break before they light up, or glowing star stickers on your ceiling that charge in daylight). They run out quickly and stop glowing. Glow-in-the-dark products often emit light in all directions, lighting up the surroundings, but with limited range. Reflective means that light is bounced back to the actual source. So if a car’s headlights shine on the helmet, the helmet reflects the light back to the car. As long as the reflective helmet is not damaged, dirty, or covered, it will reflect any light source.
Is the Swivvle® helmet safe and does it meet safety standards?
Yes, all our helmets are tested and comply with European safety standards. Some models are also suitable for speed pedelecs and comply with NTA 8776. The Sirius model is certified according to CE EN1078 (EU bicycle safety standard), CPSC (US bicycle safety standard), and NTA8776 (Dutch standard for e-bikes and speed pedelecs up to 45km/h). In addition, MIPS is integrated, the Multi-directional Impact Protection System. This system is designed to add extra safety in case of an accident, reducing harmful forces that could otherwise reach the user’s head. Thanks to the integrated reflective technology, you will be visible in the dark from more than 30 meters away, helping to prevent accidents! The Spica model is our kids’ helmet and is certified according to CE EN1080 (EU safety standard for children’s bicycle helmets). It also has a green safety buckle.
What is CE EN1078?
Created in 1997 and officially approved in 2012, CE EN1078 is the European standard for bicycle, skateboard, and roller skate helmets. It sets requirements and testing methods for helmet construction, including field of vision, shock absorption, retention systems (chin strap and fasteners), as well as marking and information.
What is CPSC?
The CPSC standard is a legal requirement for every helmet made for the US market. It was adopted by the US Consumer Product Safety Commission and has been mandatory for all helmets produced after 1999 for sale in the US. It is based on ASTM and Snell standards.
What is NTA8776?
An NTA-8776 helmet meets the requirements of the Dutch Technical Agreement (NTA) 8776. These requirements were created by an international project group led by NEN. This helmet protects against higher impact speeds (up to 45km/h) and covers a larger part of the head. It is tested and approved for e-bike and speed pedelec users.
What is CE EN1080?
The CE EN1080 mark shows that a child’s bicycle helmet meets the minimum safety requirements for use on a regular bicycle.
What is a green buckle?
The green buckle is a safety feature that opens automatically when pressure is applied, reducing the risk of a child getting stuck while wearing the helmet. A helmet with a green buckle can save lives. It is recommended for children under the age of seven, as older children are expected to remove their helmet themselves when jumping off a bike or scooter.
What is MIPS?
MIPS® is an extra safety system found in some helmets. It helps protect you better in case of a fall. Regular helmets are mainly designed for straight impacts. But in reality, most falls are angled, which can cause the head to twist. That twisting can cause brain injuries. MIPS has a special sliding layer inside the helmet. This allows the helmet to move slightly, reducing the rotational force on your head. ➡️ Thanks to MIPS, the risk of brain injuries can be reduced by more than 60% in angled impacts.
Is my helmet waterproof?
Yes, the outer shell is made of polycarbonate (PC), which makes it waterproof.
What helmet sizes are available?
The Swivvle® Sirius helmet comes in 3 sizes:
Small: S – 51–54 cm / 20.1–21.3 inch
Medium: M – 55–58 cm / 21.6–22.8 inch
Large: L – 59–61 cm / 22.8–24.0 inch
The Swivvle® Spica (kids’ helmet) comes in 2 sizes:
Extrasmall: XS – 48–50 cm / 18.9–19.7 inch
Small: S – 51–54 cm / 19.3–21.6 inch
How do I measure my head for the right size?
Use a tape measure or string to measure the circumference of your head, about 1 cm above your eyebrows and ears. Match the number to the size chart. For example, if your head is 57 cm, a size M helmet should fit perfectly.
How do I make sure the helmet fits properly?
All sizes come with an adjustment dial at the back. You can easily make the helmet tighter or looser. Put the helmet on and turn the dial until it fits snugly. Not too tight – it shouldn’t cause a headache. Test by shaking your head yes/no; if it doesn’t move much, the fit is right.
How do I choose size & color?
You select size and color when choosing your product. This will be confirmed when you place your order. If anything changes, our customer service team will contact you.
Can I wash the inner padding?
Yes! The padding is removable and can be hand washed. Let it dry completely before putting it back. Swivvle® also offers separate padding sets for sale.
Are there any Swivvle® accessories?
Yes! From autumn 2025. Think visors, extra linings like winter padding, reflective accessories, and a helmet lock. Check our shop for accessories.
How do I maintain my helmet?
Clean the outer shell with a damp cloth and mild soap. Do not use harsh cleaning agents.
How often should I replace my helmet?
We recommend replacing your helmet every 5 years, or immediately after a heavy impact, even if there’s no visible damage.
